Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.
A number of civilians were wounded while inhabitants in the city's east were experienced blackouts and encountered interruptions to water supplies, per reports from city officials.
At the same time, a young boy was killed in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, as reported by regional authorities.
Moscow has increased assaults on power infrastructure over the past few days, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.
"The necessity is not window dressing but strong steps - from the US, the EU and the G7 - in providing protection systems and implementing restrictions," was stated in a social media post.
Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen projectiles attacked the country's power systems, labeling such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.
Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were working to repair systems.
A series of attacks hit power facilities and residential structures in the capital.
Multiple people wounded in the assaults on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by local officials.
Area administrators said the metropolitan region endured significant strikes overnight. A minor was killed and several individuals were injured.
The assaults come after periods of aerial attacks in the area, sections of which remain under the control of invading troops.
All of Ukraine is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to detect.
Government officials told journalists that Russia was intentionally trying to demolish the country's energy grid, with strikes already affecting gas facilities.
Authorities confirmed energy workers and authorities were anticipating further attacks.
